Convert a Word document to JSON, keeping sections in order
Turn a Word document into JSON with sections, figures and dates kept as written. Preview the table free; a free account unlocks the full download.
This preview shows the first 25 rows and does not keep your file.

Turn anything into anything: drop any file, pick what you want out of it.Try it →A Word file keeps its structure in headings and tables, but copying the text out or saving it as plain text often flattens everything into one block, so the order of sections and the link between a label and its figure are hard to recover. This page reads your document and sets out its sections, lists and tables as JSON records, keeping names, figures, dates and the sequence exactly as written.
What you get
Sections kept in order
Headings, paragraphs and lists come out in the same sequence they appear in the document, so the structure of the report is still readable in the JSON.
Tables become rows and columns
Each table row becomes one JSON record, with the column headings used as field names and the cell values copied as written.
Figures copied exactly
Names, amounts, dates and reference numbers are copied without rounding or rewording. A value the document does not give is left empty rather than guessed.
How it works
- Step 1
Paste the text or drop a .docx file into the box above.
- Step 2
Check the preview table for the rows, columns and field names it has produced.
- Step 3
With a free account, download the full JSON, convert long documents and batches of files, and change the structure by asking.
Who uses it
Operations and project teams
Turn status reports or budget tables into data that can be imported into a spreadsheet or dashboard without retyping each figure.
Developers and testers
Get a Word specification or sample form into JSON to use as test data or as an input file for a script.
Records and admin staff
Pull the fields from forms, requests or contracts into one consistent structure so that similar documents can be compared side by side.
Questions
What does the preview show?
A table of the first rows and columns of the JSON, built from roughly the first 6,000 characters of your document. The preview does not keep your file.
Does the JSON keep the order of the sections?
Yes. Records follow the order of headings, paragraphs and tables in the Word document, and names, figures and dates are copied as written.
What happens to a field the document does not give?
The field is left empty instead of being guessed. If a report has no approval date, for example, the date field in the JSON stays blank.
Can it handle long Word files or several at once?
Long documents and batches of files need a free account, which also gives you the full JSON download and lets you change the structure by asking.
Can I rely on the output without checking it?
Results can contain mistakes, so compare them with the original Word document before using them where it matters, such as budgets, contract terms or dates.
