Turn the tables in a Word document into an Excel-ready grid
Convert the main table in a Word document into Excel rows and columns. Names, figures and dates stay as written; empty cells stay empty.
This preview shows the first 25 rows and does not keep your file.
Need a different result? Turn anything into anything: drop any file, pick what you want out of it.Try it →Copying a table out of Word often scrambles the columns, merges cells or drops the header row, and retyping figures by hand invites errors. This page reads the main table in your Word document and lays it out as rows and columns, so you can check it against the original before you use it in Excel.
What you get
Columns stay in place
The table is split into up to 8 columns with the header row kept as the first row, so values line up under the right heading.
Figures and dates as written
Names, amounts, dates and times are copied exactly as they appear in the document. Nothing is rounded, reformatted or recalculated.
Blanks left blank
If the Word document does not give a value for a cell, that cell stays empty. The tool does not fill gaps with guesses.
How it works
- Step 1
Paste your Word text into the box or drop a .docx file onto it.
- Step 2
Check the preview: the first rows show how the columns were read.
- Step 3
Free account: get every row of long files, download the table as an .xlsx file, read scanned pages through OCR, process several files at once, and edit the table by asking.
Who uses it
Office administrators
Turn a staff list, room booking table or supplier price list kept in Word into a sheet you can sort and filter in Excel.
Project coordinators
Pull a task or milestone table out of a project plan document so the dates and owners can be tracked in a spreadsheet.
Finance and records staff
Move an expense or invoice summary from a Word report into rows and columns so the totals can be checked against the source.
Questions
Which part of the Word document becomes the spreadsheet?
The main table is read and laid out as rows and columns, with at most 8 columns. Headed sections and paragraphs outside the table are not turned into cells.
Will the names, figures and dates change?
No. They are kept exactly as written in the document, in the same order as the sections. If a cell is blank in the Word file, it stays blank here.
Can I open the result in Excel directly?
The preview shows the table so you can check it. A free account lets you download the whole table as an .xlsx file for Excel.
What about a scanned Word document or a long file?
Scanned pages need a free account for OCR, and long files show every row only with an account. The preview reads roughly the first 6,000 characters without keeping your file.
Should I trust the table without checking it?
Results can contain mistakes, especially with merged cells or unusual layouts. Check the figures and dates against the original Word document before you rely on them.
