Make a presentation from a topic or a document

The slow part of a presentation is deciding what goes on each slide. WordGPT can do that first pass for you, and you then edit the result.

Start in the chat

Open the chat from your dashboard. You have two ways in.

From a topic. Write what the talk is for: "A ten-slide presentation for first-year students on healthy sleep habits. Plain language, one idea per slide."

From a document. Attach your notes, report or paper with the paperclip (Attach a file or document), or type @ to pick a file from your Files library. Then use the suggestion Make a presentation, or ask for it yourself. See Turn a PDF or Word file into slides.

You need an account: create a free account. Presentations count against your plan, and the chat tells you when there is no room for another one.

What you get

A card appears in the chat that reads "Presentation · N slides". It has these buttons:

• Edit as slides opens the PowerPoint-style editor.
• PowerPoint downloads a .pptx file.
• Edit as web page makes a modern web version you can share by link. The first time it is free.

Edit the slides

In the slide editor, change text, move boxes and swap pictures. A small assistant next to the slides can reword a slide or add one. Use Undo if you don't like a change.

Tell the chat what to improve before you open the editor, too: "shorter titles", "add a slide with the three options", "make the last slide a call to action".

Tips for a better deck

• Give the audience and the length. A five-minute talk and a thirty-minute lecture need different slides.
• Say what you do not want: "no more than four bullets per slide".
• Check every number and name. The assistant uses your material, but you know the facts.
