Graduation party invitation wording: 15 examples you can copy

Most graduation invitations fail on the first line, where the reader has to work out who graduated and what the party is for. These examples name the graduate, the date and the mood, so a guest knows at once what to expect. Pick the voice that matches who is sending the page: a parent, the graduate, or two graduates sharing one party.

What to put on a graduation party invitation

  • The graduate's name and degree or course, written the way the family would say it
  • Date, start time and a map link to the venue or garden
  • A short programme: food served, speeches or toasts, when cake is cut
  • An add-to-calendar file so guests can save the day
  • Notes on dress code, parking, or whether gifts are welcome
  • An RSVP form asking yes or no, number of guests and any dietary needs

The page has an RSVP form: guests say yes or no, how many are coming, and anything you ask (allergies, email, phone). You get an email for each reply and a guest list with a CSV export.

When to send it

  1. Six weeks before: Send the invitation link to family and close friends first
  2. Four weeks before: Share the page with the wider guest list and add the venue map
  3. Two weeks before: Check the RSVP totals and follow up with anyone who has not replied
  4. The week of the party: Update the programme or parking notes if anything has changed

Questions

Can I use these lines for a joint party for two graduates?
Yes. The lines marked as joint parties name both graduates in the first sentence, so guests know they are celebrating two people. Swap in your own names and keep the date the same for both.
Do guests need an account to open the invitation?
No. Guests open one link in any browser and do not need to sign up. They can reply on the page, and the RSVP form asks for a yes or no, the number of guests and a short note.
Can I change the wording after I have sent the link?
Yes. You can edit the page by hand or ask for changes in the chat. Guests who open the link again will see the updated text, so check the wording and date before you share it widely.
Will I be told when someone replies?
Yes. You get an email for each reply. The guest list shows totals for yes, no and guest numbers, and you can download the list as a CSV file.
Which tone suits a graduation party for a parent to send?
A parent usually sends the proud parent or formal lines, because the invitation comes from the family. A graduate writing to friends often sounds better in the first person, with a short, direct line about where and when to come.
