A bank statement is a long list of dates and amounts, and the answer you need, such as the closing balance or the biggest payments, is often hard to find. This tool reads the statement and writes a short summary of the period, followed by key points, with every date, amount and balance kept exactly as printed.

What you get

Plain-language overview

Three to five sentences on the account period, the opening and closing balance, and the main kinds of payment, taken only from what the statement says.

Key points as a list

Four to six bullets pick out the notable transactions, each with its date and amount as printed on the statement.

Figures kept as printed

Dates, amounts and balances are copied exactly, not rounded or recalculated, and the summary uses the same language as the statement.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Paste the text of your statement, or drop the PDF or Word file into the box.

  2. Step 2

Read the preview: a short summary of the period and up to six key points.

  3. Step 3

Create a free account to summarise longer files and scans, choose the summary length and style, save or share the result, and ask follow-up questions in chat.

Who uses it

  • Households checking a month

Get the overall picture of a monthly statement, including the opening and closing balance, before you look at every line.

  • Small business owners

Pull out the main payments in and out for the period before you send the statement on to an accountant.

  • Anyone sharing a joint account

Give a partner or family member a short overview of what happened in the period, without forwarding every transaction.

Questions

What does the summary include?

Three to five sentences covering the account period, the opening and closing balance and the main kinds of transaction, then four to six key points. It uses only what the statement says, in the same language as the statement.

Are the numbers changed?

No. Dates, amounts and balances are copied as printed. The tool does not recalculate running balances or add up totals, so any figure in the summary should match the statement line for line.

Can it read scanned or photographed statements?

Scans need a free account, because they require text recognition (OCR). The preview reads up to 5 pages of a PDF of up to 2 MB, or about 6,000 characters of text, so a long statement may need an account to summarise in full.

Should I check the summary against the original statement?

Yes. Results can contain mistakes, so check any date, amount or balance against the bank's own statement before you rely on it, especially for tax, loan applications or a disputed payment.

Does the preview keep my statement?

No. The preview does not keep the file. A free account is needed to save or share a result.
