What makes this data analyst resume work

Describe the decision, not the chart

'Built a dashboard' says little. 'Replaced six manual reports and saved ten hours a week' says what changed.

Say how big the data was

Rows, tables or users give a hiring manager a sense of scale at once.

Show statistical care

Mention A/B tests, sample size awareness or how you checked quality. It signals that you can be trusted with a number.

Show a portfolio project if you are early in your career

A public analysis on real data with a written conclusion is a strong substitute for years of experience.

Bullet patterns to adapt

Replace the brackets with your real numbers and details.

  • Built [dashboard or model] on [data size], replacing [old process] and saving [time or money]
  • Analysed [experiment or question], finding [result]; [decision that followed]
  • Defined [number] metrics so that [teams] report one version of [figure]
  • Found [issue] through [method], recovering [value]

Questions

Do I need to list every tool?

List the ones used in the job's description first, and the ones you use daily. A long tail of tools you touched once weakens the page.

How do I show impact without revenue data?

Use time saved, errors found, decisions informed or the number of people who use your work.

Should I add a portfolio link?

Yes, if it has real work with a written conclusion, not only notebooks of code.

How is it different from a data scientist resume?

Analyst resumes stress business questions and communication; data scientist resumes add modelling and experiments in more depth.
